Signing in & access.
Dwell is a private, invite-only workspace. This page explains how accounts work, how to sign in during the private preview, and what the different roles mean.
Signing in during the private preview
While Dwell is in private preview, the public site shows a holding page instead of the workspace. Signing in is still simple:
Open Dwell (afom.io) and click Private sign in on the holding page.
Enter the email address your account was created with, and your password.
Click Step inside →. If your credentials are correct and your account has been set up, the full workspace opens.
Your session lasts 12 hours. Dwell re-checks it periodically and when the window regains focus, so an expired session returns you to the holding page — just sign in again.
If your email and password are correct but you see this message, your account doesn't have a member profile yet. Contact the Dwell administrator so they can finish setting up your access.
How accounts are created
There is no public sign-up during the preview. Access works like this:
- The administrator creates your account and assigns one or more roles (for example, tenant for your home unit, or strata manager for the complexes your firm runs).
- Portfolios are assigned, not self-declared. The complexes a strata manager runs and the units a property manager looks after are set by the administrator (under Portfolios in the admin area), so the system always reflects who genuinely manages what.
- Once your account exists, sign in with your email and password as described above.
When Dwell opens to the public, the sign-in screen will also offer Request access, Sign up and Forgot password — requests will be reviewed and approved before access is granted.
Password problems
- Forgot your password: during the preview, ask the Dwell administrator to trigger a password reset for your account. The reset link is sent to your email.
- Reset email not arriving: check spam and promotions folders, then confirm with the administrator which email address is on the account.
- Wrong-password errors: passwords are case-sensitive. If you're sure the password is right but keep being rejected, request a reset rather than retrying repeatedly (repeated failures can trigger rate limiting).
The administrator's sign-in can require a second factor (a one-time code from an authenticator app). For everyone else, email and password is the whole sign-in.
Roles and what they mean
Your role decides what you can see and do. One person can hold several roles — a strata-committee member who also owns their unit would hold executive-committee and landlord, for example.
| Role | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Tenant | Living in a unit: community feed, events, maintenance requests, levies and polls for your home complex. |
| Landlord | Owning one or more units: portfolio-wide visibility of levies, documents and maintenance. |
| Property manager | Managing individual rental units on behalf of landlords: work orders, dispatch and the contractor directory, scoped per unit. |
| Strata manager | Running whole complexes: communications, events, maintenance governance, documents, levies, polls and vendors. |
| Contractor | Trade contractors who receive dispatched work orders, get rated, and check in on site. |
| Executive committee | Committee members who need full read visibility of their complex without day-to-day management duties. |

Features change with your active role. If a button you expected is missing, check the Viewing as pills at the top of the complex page, or switch roles in your portal.
More than one account or role
If you wear several hats (for example, a work strata-manager account and a personal tenant account), sign out from the account menu in the top-right corner and sign back in with the other account. Within one account, you can switch between roles from your portal — see Switching roles.
